THE 5 DETECTION MODES - HOW TO USE

1. Radio Frequency Detection

Important Note: Most Spy devices (i.e., audio bugs, hidden cameras, and GPS trackers), emit some type of wireless radio frequency (RF) signal to transmit the collected information (i.e., audio or video footage) to the individual doing the spying.

Purpose: To detect all types of radio frequency,
electromagnetic field, and electronic device radiation including but not limited to the following: A. WIFI Signals B. Radio Waves / RF Signals C. Cell Phone Calls & Messages D. Smart Meter Radiation E. Microwave Radiation.

Example Use Cases:

  • Detect if your car, office, hotel or home contain wireless cameras or surveillance devices.
  • Detect if a phone is bugged (transmits signals for no reason when in standby).
  • Detect an installed GPS tracker on your vehicle (which emits an RF signal).
  • Detect if your work environment or residential buildings have rooftop base station radiation.
  • Detect if household appliances, such as microwaves, are leaking harmful electromagnetic radiation.

Instructions + More Information:

  • After turning on the Anti-Spy Detector by holding the A button, the Anti-Spy Detector will automatically be in Radio Frequency Detection mode. If you need to select this mode, press the A button until you hear the device say, “Radio Frequency Detection.”
  • When in “Radio Frequency Detection” mode, the device is active and ready to find devices emitting RF signals in your immediate vicinity. In other words, it is performing a multi-directional search for electromagnetic waves using its imbedded radio frequency (RF) detection antenna.
  • Press the B button to adjust the sensor’s sensitivity based on your environment. Upon first use, we recommend using the detector’s most sensitive setting with 3 lights illuminated.

Critical Note: The higher you turn up the sensitivity, the larger the range of detection will be. On the contrary, the lower you keep the sensitivity, the smaller the range of detection will be.

  • Perform a sweep. With the detector in hand, walk around your location and slowly approach suspicious objects (i.e., clocks, TVs, phones, cars, pens, chargers, picture frames, etc.) meanwhile listening for beeping sounds from the detector.
  • When an electromagnetic wave is detected, the signal strength indicator on the device will display the signal strength (6 lights illuminated = highest strength). The device will also vibrate or beep depending on which setting it is on. The faster the beeping or more constant the ringing, the stronger & closer the RF signal. The closer you hold the Anti-Spy Detector to the transmitting device, the stronger the signal will be on the strength indicator.
  • During your scan, turn down the sensitivity little by little as you approach suspected RF signals. This allows you to zero in on and exactly diagnose the more specific source of the RF signal (i.e., a hidden camera embedded in a clock or in a cell phone charger).

Testing: Simple ways to test the RF signal detection are by using it while slowly approaching your cell phone, microwave or WIFI router. It is highly recommended to do this before attempting to find any hidden spy devices.

2. Camera Discovery Scan

Important Note: Cameras rely on ambient light to focus images through the optical lens. A hidden camera body will be very camouflaged, but the optical lens can be exposed by shining infrared light on it.
Purpose: To visually discover hidden cameras by emitting a red light that allows you to see optical lenses of hidden cameras because of their reflections.

Example Use Cases:

  • Common locations for hidden cameras: hotel rooms, Airbnb’s, changing rooms, bathrooms, cars, offices, homes, ATMs, etc.
  • Common items with hidden cameras: clocks, cell phone chargers, glasses, TV, screens, pens, audio bugs, piggy banks, light fixtures, etc.

Instructions + More Information:

  • After powering on the Anti-Spy Detector, press the A button until the device says, “Camera Discovery Scan”. A red light will emit from the end of the Anti-Spy Detector.
  • Press the B button to select the LED flash frequency.
  • Perform a scan for cameras by walking slowly around the room/area while looking through the red optical lens at a 90-degree viewing angle to visually discover cameras.

Critical Note: When you shine the red light on a camera, you will see a small red dot reflection which is the hidden camera lens reflecting the infrared light back at you. If you see light reflected back at you or any red dots, you may have found a hidden camera.
Critical Note 2: The viewing angle should ideally be directly in front of the hidden camera. For example, if you are looking at a camera from a side angle, the hidden camera will not reflect the light as well and may not show the aforementioned red dot. Therefore, rather than scanning a room at many different angles, it is recommended to walk around the room and scan at a 90-degree angle (i.e., face objects & walls directly in a perpendicular way).

3. Infrared Camera Detection

Important Note: For night vision in dark environments, cameras will use a night vision mode in which infrared fill lights next to the lens illuminate the environment for a clearer picture. This mode works by detecting the infrared light emitted by night vision cameras to locate them.

Purpose: To locate hidden infrared (night vision) cameras.

Example Use Cases:

  • Common locations for hidden cameras: hotel rooms, Airbnb’s, changing rooms, bathrooms, cars, offices, homes, ATMs, etc.
  • Common items with hidden cameras: clocks, cell phone chargers, glasses, TV, screens, pens, audio bugs, piggy banks, light fixtures, etc.

Instructions + More Information:

  • After turning on the Anti-Spy Detector, press the A button until the device says, “Infrared Camera Detection”.
  • A red beam will be emitted from the end of the device. Point the beam at suspected areas to locate a hidden infrared camera. Do not point the beam towards your eyes.
  • When the device detects an infrared light emitted by a camera, it will vibrate or beep. The laser sensor indicates only the general position of an infrared light.
  • Press the B button to turn the laser pointer on and off.

Critical Notes:

A. This function MUST ONLY BE USED IN A DARK ENVIRONMENT (i.e., at night) to be effective as sunlight and some household lights contain infrared light which interferes with the sensor, likely causing an unwanted alarm.
B. Hidden cameras only use the infrared light fills detected by this mode when lighting is dim.

WARNING: When using the Infrared Camera Detection mode, a red laser beam will be emitted from the end of the device. The laser can cause eye damage, do not point the laser at the eyes of animals or people.

4. Strong Magnetic Detection

Important Note: To steal information, strong magnetic GPS trackers, audio bugs, or other spy surveillance equipment can be attached to vehicles or any other metal surface.

Purpose: To sense magnetic signals transmitted from these spy devices containing a magnet, despite where they may be hidden.

Example Use Cases:

  • Detect an installed GPS tracker on your vehicle (which emits a magnetic signal).
  • Detect any other audio bug, hidden tracker, or clandestine camera which is affixed to a surface using a magnet.

Instructions + More Information:

  • After turning on the Anti-Spy Detector, press the A button times until the device says, “Strong Magnetic Detection.”
  • Perform a sweep. The detector will scan for strong magnetic signals using a panel with an optical mirror.
  • When a strong magnetic signal is detected, the device will vibrate or sound an alarm.
  • Successful detection of a magnetic spy gadget depends on the strength of the magnet and its distance from the KNIGHT 2.0. For stronger magnets like GPS trackers placed on cars, the detection distance may be around 6 inches. However, for weaker magnets, the detection distance may need to be within 1/2 inch. As the strength of the magnet will be unknown until detected, it is recommended to perform the magnetic scan very slowly and deliberately.

Critical Note: If you are concerned about GPS trackers, it is recommended to perform a detailed scan of your car(s). When scanning a car, the most common locations for GPS trackers is under the frame, around the wheels and brakes, and under the bumpers.

5. Motion Anti-Theft Alarm

Important Note: The Anti-Spy Detector can be used as an anti-theft motion alarm when storing valuables.

Purpose: To detect motion.

Hypothetical Example Use Case:

  • If a bad actor attempts to steal a purse left in a hotel room or open a drawer with the KNIGHT 2.0 inside of it, the movement will cause the detector to sound this motion alarm, likely frightening away the bad actor.

Instructions + More Information:

  • After turning on the Anti-Spy Detector, press the A button until the device says, “Motion Anti-Theft Alarm.”
  • The alarm will not be triggered within three seconds from selecting this function.
  • After three seconds, the alarm is set. Any slight touch, vibration, or change in position will cause the device to light up and sound an alarm.
  • The alarm will stop after 10 seconds, and the device will enter standby mode until the device is disturbed again.

Change to Silent (Vibration) Mode

The KNIGHT 2.0 has two different alarm settings: 1. Vibration mode 2. Beep mode. Press and hold the A+B buttons at the same time to switch between the two settings.

Turning Off the Anti-Spy Detector

Turn off the Anti-Spy Detector by pressing and holding the A button for 3 seconds until the device says, “Knight Deactivated” and powers off.

User Notes

  1. Spy devices and equipment used for secret photography, eavesdropping, or tracking may not always be turned on and the installer may be able to remotely activate them. There may not be any detection when initially using the Anti-Spy Detector if surveillance devices are powered off. In suspicious environments, leave on the Anti-Spy Detector and place it nearby. If an operator turns on a secret surveillance device, the Anti-Spy Detector will detect the radio frequency or infrared light emitted by the device and will beep to notify you.
  2. The Anti-Spy Detector is intended for indoor use. While scanning, strong Wi-Fi signals, base stations, or signal amplifiers may cause false alarms. Pay attention to distinguish between false alarms and true alarms.
